Small bust of St. John the Baptist made of marble or alabaster with the head tilted slightly to the left. A similar version, signed and dated Storck 1870, can be found in the Frederic and Cecilia Cuțescu-Storck Art Museum, which exhibits works by the Storck family of artists. Karl Storck, originally from Hanau, Germany, relocated to Bucharest in 1849, where he established himself permanently. Serving as a professor of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts from 1865, Storck played a pivotal role in shaping modern Romanian sculpture.
