Large and exceptional Murano glass chandelier designed by Flavio Poli (1900–1984) for Seguso Vetri d’Arte, circa 1950. The chandelier is composed of numerous individually formed and etched glass elements in the shape of stylized lily flowers, executed in soft shades of pink, blue, white and pastel green.

The chandelier originates from the legendary Hotel Bristol in Merano, Italy, whose spectacular interiors were created under the supervision of architect Marino Meo. The original installation, commissioned by the hotel’s owner Arnaldo Bennati, measured approximately nine by three meters and formed part of an ambitious interior scheme involving leading Italian artists and craftsmen of the period.

Flavio Poli and Seguso Vetri d’Arte were responsible for the hotel’s remarkable lighting installations. As the monumental original metal structure could no longer be used, the chandelier was carefully reconstructed on a newly made, reduced-size metal frame while retaining the original Murano glass elements.
