Alexander Rutsch (1916, Petrograd – 1997, New York) was an Austrian painter and draftsman. Initially trained as an opera singer, he later studied art in Belgrade and Vienna at the Academy of Fine Arts under Josef Dobrowsky, Josef Hoffmann, and Herbert Boeckl.

A scholarship brought him to France, where he established connections with artists such as Picasso and Dalí. Rutsch exhibited internationally and received numerous awards. From 1968 onward, he lived in Pelham, New York.

In his memory, the Alexander Rutsch Award for Painting is awarded biennially, including a solo exhibition at the Pelham Art Center.
