Set of two ceramic bowls with a dark brown glaze and asymmetrical, organic forms in the well. The larger piece measures H: 3 in × Ø 16.5 in, while the smaller—usable as a dish or ashtray—measures H: 2.2 in × Ø 11.2 in and features six small indentations for cigarettes. Signed on the reverse: “Boaretto, ’72”. Nereo Boaretto (1914–1977) was born in Montegrotto Terme and began his ceramic career with Richard-Ginori before founding his own workshop in Padua in 1950, where he worked until his death. His work combines technical precision with an instinctive, folk-inspired primitivism.
