Pair of Neoclassical walnut commodes, Italy, circa 1800.

The commodes feature finely executed marquetry on the fronts and sides, with shaded wood inlays and drapery decorations. The corners of the cases are chamfered, and the fronts are fitted with brass hardware.

The tops are framed by low-profile moldings and fitted with inset black marble slabs featuring ocher-colored veining.

The commodes stand on tapered square legs and have been fully restored and refinished.
