Hand built porcelain table lamp by American artist Charles Burleigh.
This work, bisque fired and unglazed, renders a striking translucent effect when illuminated from behind the surface of the lamp. The surface is activated by the hand formed clay, creating variable depths of opacity and luminosity. Shown with a polished nickel base; it is also available in brushed brass.
Charles Burleigh was born into a family of artisans. His work is the culmination of a lifetime of observation, exploration and inspiration. Each piece in this series begins as an unformed mass and through hand work reveals itself during the process of manipulation and creation. As a result, each piece is unique. Mr. Burleigh’s work can be commissioned in a series of glazed or unglazed finishes.
