Marianne Brandt designed desk lamp from Germany, 1930's.  Constructed of black painted steel and bakelite accents resting on a clear lucite base. The steel shade can pivot for task use.  The on/off push button is of bakelite as is the black base.  Electrified for the U. S. market.
