An Italian Modernist coffee cocktail table with fossil marble top from Italy circa 1950.  The circular nickel base with large marble top containing embedded ammonite and orthoceras fossils dating back to around 400 million years ago. Notable to the design is that all four legs are a double column, continuous with the frame that encloses the fossil top.
