Small bronze sculpture by Max Kruse depicting the Messenger of Marathon, mounted on a profiled marble base in red and yellow marble. The runner is shown in the final moment of his life, raising his right fist to announce victory while holding his chest with his left hand. The bronze is signed Max Kruse on the plinth. The front of the base bears the inscription “Nenikhamen” (“We have won”) and carries the foundry mark of Aktien-Gesellschaft Gladenbeck, Berlin.
