This French Empire period mirror is of rectangular shape from France circa 1820. The reflective brass has been hand molded and hammered to sheathe the entire substantial wood frame. Brass was especially popular as a framing material because of its ability to remain highly reflective of any available light in an interior. The modern simplicity of this design remains desirable today.
