Finely carved marble bust of the Venus of Capua, shown with an elegant diadem and gently inclined head. The work follows the celebrated ancient Roman model dating to the 1st/2nd century AD. Signed on the reverse “P. Bazzanti Florence” for the Florentine sculptor Pietro Bazzanti (1842–1881), renowned for his refined neoclassical marble sculptures.
